Arsenal have emerged as favourites to land Atletico Madrid midfielder Thomas Partey according to reports from Spain. The Ghanaian international has been persistently linked with a move to England in recent months.
Atletico are resigned to Partey leaving and are already looking to identify potential replacements in the summer. Partey has so far refused to sign a new deal with the Spanish giants and is keen on moving to England this summer.
Arsenal know that they can trigger his £45m release clause this summer and are likely to activate the clause.
Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta has been promised money to spend on signings this summer and Partey is at the top of his list.
Partey is considered a complete midfielder capable of playing different roles on the pitch. He is an excellent passer, tackler and capable of scoring from long distance.
The Gunners have been active recently tying defenders David Luiz and Cedric Soares to new deals and activating the clause of defender Pablo Mari.
