Arsenal and Chelsea are reportedly among the clubs interested in sealing the transfer of Real Madrid star Cristiano Ronaldo as he’s made available for just €120m.
Reports in Spain have sourced that the two London clubs, as well as Manchester City and Italian side AC Milan are interested in the Portuguese star. In his last contract he agreed in 2016, there was an agreement in place with Real Madrid to lower his buy-out clause.
Of course all great things have to come to an end at some point, even the case for Ronaldo, although he has a few years left in him. During last season there were reports that Ronaldo was unhappy with his salary – earning a measly £350,000 a week. How could he ever afford to raise a family on that little money?
Arsenal and Chelsea could certainly do with that kind of quality and winning mentality in their squads after both missing out on the top four last term.
Chelsea needed to replace Diego Costa after he departed for Athletico Madrid but Alvaro Morata has been rather disappointing. Olivier Giroud was signed in January 2018 but again the French forward has never been a 30+ goals a season striker.
Arsenal have the likes of Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Alexandre Lacazette as decent options, but Ronaldo would undoubtedly be a major upgrade.
Personally, at his age now – of course €120m would be crazy money but you would get three or four years of quality left from him at the top level.
